Description: The ninth book in the U.S. equivalent of The Famous Five sees our intrepid adventurers spending their Christmas hols at Snow Lodge farm.
The only illustrations present are that on the dust jacket; a b&w frontispiece showing the Twins huddled around a camp fire in the woods, looking very pleased that a ranger has found them; and another illustration at the very end of the book in which Bert is emerging from a crack in the ice, soaking wet, much to the amusement of the onlookers. The endpapers and pastedowns are illustrated with a b&w pattern of miscellaneous, holiday-related objects (e.g. beach balls, windmills, circus tents, &c.).The jacket has been laminated and reinforced with paper by the previous owner, and bears its original price of 5´- The pages are in very good condition: clean and free from any foxing or other markings – except for the fep, which has a small tear which has bent over onto the other side. The quality of the paper appears to have improved in 1959, as the endpapers are no longer discoloured where they make contact with the jacket flaps. The binding is very tight.
Hard to find with dust jacket.
