Description: "A beautifully illustrated collection of extracts from some of the best of modern writing for children. The selection includes both fact and fiction. There are stories about animals, about war, about city life and about the countryside. There are stories set in the past and stories set in the future. There is true life adventure and outrageous fantasy."
Amongst the 20 works included are: Smith, Carrie's War, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Born Free, Little House on the Prairie, and The Magician's Nephew.
Exquisitely illustrated in full-colour and b&w by such celebrated artists as Val Biro and Victor Ambrus.
Glazed pictorial boards repeat jacket design. Tail of spine has a negligible bump; head and board corners perfectly straight. The unclipped (£4.95) jacket is in excellent condition for its age. Admittedly, there are some closed tears around the corners; but the wrapper is clean and complete. Internally, the book is effectively as new: all pages are crisp, bright, unmarked, tightly bound and haven't been affected by tanning or foxing – except for two or three insignificant jots on the endpapers.
A lovely example of a rare title.
Measures 26 cm × 18.5 cm (10.4″ × 7.4″). 4to. 351 pp.
