Description:
The word 'palimpsest' in the title refers not to the work itself, but to the character of
Naples, whose architectural and cultural past is still discernible amongst the developments of
the modern age. This book explores the city's 2,000 year old history, from its Greek origins
through to the present day (the beginning of the '60s in this instance).
Illustrated throughout with plates featuring high-quality b&w photographs, and b&w reproductions of paintings and other works of art. The jacket is in very good, undamaged condition, and hasn't been price-clipped (original price of 42s still present). The pages are also in very good condition: they are made from high-quality writing paper, and are unmarked and free from foxing. The only caveat is some slight discolouration on the endpapers where they have made contact with the jacket flaps. Measures 21.5 cm × 14 cm (8.5″ × 5.5″). 8vo. 272 pp. (SOLD) |
