Description:
The classic story of Mary Queen of Scots is retold with special emphasis on the men who played
such prominent parts in her extraordinary life. In this book, written in Jacob's vivid and and dramatic style, Mary comes to life again, as do the famous men with whom she was associated, such as Bothwell, Darnley, Rizzio, and George Douglas. Whilst the book reconstructs the tragic and familiar story, the author's main purpose is to relate in detail and with understanding the love affairs of Mary Queen of Scots. Apart from a light 1½ cm (0.6″) tear where the front cover meets the spine, and two negligible nicks on the bottom of the rear cover, the jacket is excellent condition. Unusually, the price (12/6d. net) has been printed on both flaps. Internally, the book is in immaculate condition – truly incredible when one takes into account that the book was printed on War Economy paper – with not a jot of foxing to speak of. There is an error on the inner flap's blurb, where 'Bothwell' was misspelt as 'Rothwell'. It appears that this was crudely corrected by hand at the printing press. An excellent copy. Measures 21 cm × 14 cm (8.4″ × 5.6″). 8vo. 352 pp. Price: £45.00 |
