Description: "What boy isn't fascinated by football or cricket, racing cars or mountaineering? Add to these a touch of adventure, mystery and comedy, and you have a collection of sports stories which should be irresistible to any young reader. There is Simon, who meets up with unexpected danger when he goes swimming in a Polynesian lagoon and ends by organising a whole island to save the life of his friend Rangi; Terry, the young archer who follows a stray arrow into Sherwood Forest and stumbles on a hidden priory's secret; Glyn, who rescues a fellow mountain climber from near death only to find himself in the midst of an unsolved crime; Jerry and his horse Butternut, who go from making milk deliveries to running in the point-to-point… The book will be a favourite with lovers of sports and adventure alike."
Illustrated with just under 20 excellent, full-page line drawings.
Blue cloth boards with gilded text to spine. Lower corners slightly bumped; upper and spine are straight. Price-clipped jacket has some marks on the front from where the book was used as a rest for the previous owner's artistic efforts (only visible when held under direct light). Some negligible scuffing near the head of the spine; otherwise the jacket is complete and in very good condition. The pages have been printed on paperback quality paper, which means that they have succumbed to the usual tanning. Otherwise the book is in excellent internal order: all pages are unmarked with not a jot of foxing in sight. Binding is sound.
