Description: The rare Third Edition of Mrs. Clarke's cookery book features hundreds of Victorian recipes (many of which are still around today), and even contains a recipe for curry powder plus a number of other Indian dishes. There are recipes for soups, entrées, desserts, meat, fish, and a few vegetarian options.

The book doesn't contain illustrations of the finished articles or of the preparation involved. Instead, it is illustrated with a number of wonderful Victorian adverts – including a particularly amusing one for Pear's Soap on the front pastedown.

Dark green cloth boards with gilt text. Corners are bumped, and there is a tiny bit of wear near the head of the spine (see image). Boards are lightly soiled. The Index to the Appendix and ~6 pp. of adverts have parted company with the binding, but remain bound as a separate unit. Otherwise, the binding is very tight. Pages have been subjected to varying degrees of foxing, but are otherwise unmarked.

Measures 18.5 cm × 12.5 cm (7.4″ × 5″). 12mo. 270 pp. + 8 pp. of period adverts.

Price: £50.00
