Written in a humorous style, the book is split into 5 main sections – with appropriate quotes from literature at the beginning of each – plus a number of shorter chapters dealing with such subjects as choosing and storing cigars! The highlight for any enterprising host is, of course, the myriad cocktail recipes. These range from such classics as Manhattan, Snowball, and Pink Lady, to the more obscure: R.A.C., Bronx, and Virgin – the latter requiring something called 'Forbidden Fruit'.

The front cover has some minor wear (refer to image), whilst the rear is in excellent condition. The spine is rather frayed, but is still in one piece and not coming apart. Internally, the book is as new: the pages are very tightly bound, unmarked, and free from foxing.
