Description: "When Shellover first appeared in Mrs. Candy's garden, the Cow couldn't eat, the Seven Black Hens were restless, the Dog dug up an old bone, and the Cat couldn't even be bothered to look at the Sparrows. And the worst of it was Mrs. Candy liked him. But when they found out that he had travelled the world and could tell stories, everything was all right again. "There were ten stories, one for each of them, and each better than the last, and all of them just right for reading at bedtime or any other time. Each one is as complete and satisfying as Shellover's breakfasts on Mrs. Candy's lettuces."
Illustrated throughout with excellent b&w drawings – several of which are full-page.
Negligible creasing and rubbing along the spine, where it meets the front cover; otherwise covers are in excellent condition for a paperback of this vintage. Pages are, of course, tanned, but are in superb condition: unmarked, free from foxing and very tightly bound.
