Description: Written in verse, Pongo Pup and Horace Hare take the train to Storyland, where they meet Snow White, Jack and Jill, Puss-in-Boots, Humpty Dumpty, and other famous personages from well-known fairy tales and nursery rhymes.
Lovely two-colour monochrome (red, green, blue) illustrations throughout.
Dark beige cloth boards with green text and illustration to front. Spine lightly bumped; corners appear to be straight. Unclipped (4s. net) dust jacket has some nicks along its lower extremities, plus a 2 cm (¾″) loss at the tail of the spine (refer to image). Closed tears have been skilfully repaired, and the jacket remains loss-free at the rear. Gift inscription in black ink on the front pastedown. Minor damp damage in the gutter betwixt the front pastedown and endpaper, and rear pastedown and enpaper. Slight discolouration to two pages, otherwise all are in excellent condition for their age: unmarked, completely free from tanning, and with only speck or two of foxing – though these may simply be imperfections in the paper, rather than actual foxing. Binding is sound.
Undated first edition.
Measures 24.5 cm × 18.5 cm (9.8″ × 7.4″). Small 4to. Unpaginated.
