Description: "Little Jenny Wilkie wishes she had a different necklace for every day of the year. For reasons of their own, the fairies decide to make her wish come true, with an extraordinary treasure trove of fairy jewels that changes her life beyond all expectations."
Illustrated with 7 exquisite colour plates, plus several lovely b&w in-text line drawings and vignettes.
Glazed pictorial boards finished in 'Cadbury purple' repeat jacket design. The jacket has been clipped by the publisher, and a revised price of £1.10 affixed to the inside flap. The jacket is discoloured (having become a much lighter shade of the aforementioned 'Cadbury purple'), and some of the text has bled. There is also a 3 cm scar on the rear, which has partially torn the jacket. Apart from some negligible specks of foxing on the ffep, and a pronounced musty smell, the book is in excellent internal condition: all pages are crisp, bright, unmarked, and free from tanning or further foxing. Binding is tight.
Rare hardcover edition. Originally published in 1946 under the title Groundsel and Necklaces
Measures 17 cm × 10 cm (6.8″ × 4″). Small 12mo. Unpaginated.
