Description:
"Fly with Alison and John to Israel and—through the pictures and story in this
book—see with them the wonders of the Holy Land. Visit the Crusader castles, the Sea
of Galilee, the Dead Sea, Jerusalem and Nazareth — where Jesus lived as a boy.
In this wonderful land of the Bible — the home of the tribes of Israel and the
setting of the New Testament — a new nation is being built."
Enchanting full-page colour illustrations on every facing page superbly capture the scorching heat in the streets and surrounding countryside, and show that little had changed in the early '60s since ancient times. Pastedowns and endpapers feature a 3-colour map depicting the flight path from London to Lydda (known today as Lod). Buff-coloured matt boards feature a blue-monochrome detail from the jacket illustration. Spine very lightly bumped; corners effectively straight. Unclipped (2′6 NET) jacket is scuffed along its extremities, and wrinkled at the rear from water damage. Nonetheless, it remains complete and tear-free. The water damage has not affected the book itself, which remains in superb condition. The pages are crisp, bright, unmarked, and completely free from foxing or tanning. Binding is very tight. A lovely copy of the rare first edition. Measures 17.5 cm × 11.5 cm (7″ × 4.6″). 12mo. 51 pp. Price: £28.00 |
