![]() | Title: 'Through the Ages': Transport Author: Muriel Goaman Illustrator: Frank Hampson Year: 1970 Binding: Hardback Publisher: Wills & Hepworth Ltd. SBN: 721402380 Remarks: 1971 reprint; inscribed Book Condition: Near Excellent Jacket Condition: N/A
Description:
This gem of a book documents, in large easy-to-read text, the evolution of transport in all
its forms (land, air, sea) since pre-history and the ancient world through to the 20th
Century (via the Middle Ages, Renaissance, and Industrial Revolution).
Exquisite, full-page colour illustrations on every facing page. Modern transport enthusiasts will particularly appreciate the painting depicting a Routemaster on route 72 at Shepherd's Bush with the Westway still under construction. Pastedowns and endpapers feature labelled monochrome illustrations of land transport, and sea & air transport. Matt pictorial boards would be as new were it not for bumping to the lower corners and spine ends. Previous owner's (sur)name inscribed in blue ink in upper-left corner of front pastedown (illustrations remain unaffected). Pages are in superb, unmarked condition: crisp, bright, and tightly bound. Not a jot of foxing or shadow of tanning anywhere. A wonderful copy of a rare early printing. 'Dual' price of 2′6 | 12½p NET on rear cover dates this reprint to early 1971. Measures 17.5 cm × 11.5 cm (7″ × 4.5″). 12mo. 51 pp. Price: £12.00 |
