Description: Lovely, pre-war tome containing 10 fairy tales by the master Danish storyteller. Alongside classics like The Ugly Duckling, Thumbelina (rendered in this book as Thumbelisa), and The Little Mermaid are lesser known tales, including The Candles and The Little Swineherd. Also features The Snow Queen, told in seven stories.

Beautiful colour plates by the renowned Margaret W. Tarrant bring the stories to life.

Smooth pictorial boards with sky blue cloth spine. Corners and extremities rubbed and a little worn. Spine slightly bumped. Minor damp stain on rear board (refer to additional image). Pages are printed on thick paper, and are in excellent overall condition. Some of the colour plates are slightly wavy near where the gutter, and one or two have a minor damp stain – the illustrations, thankfully, remain unaffected.

Undated first edition.
