Title: The Junior World Encyclopædia: Book 11
Publisher: Sampson Low
Book Condition: Very Good
Jacket Condition: No Jacket
Description: The rare eleventh volume of the Encyclopædia features a wealth of geographic, historic, political, and scientific information – all enriched with wonderfully nostalgic colour illustrations. It even includes U.S. states (e.g. Nevada, Oregon, &c.). Most of the information is still accurate and relevant today, whilst the remainder provides a fascinating insight into how the world looked in 1959.
The front and rear covers are in excellent condition, but the spine and corners are bumped and chipped – the former is also slightly loose, but has not become detached. Illustrated pastedowns: the front features ocean depths, whilst the rear shows a map of nomadic trends through the ages. The front pastedown has a 12 cm (4.8″) loss at the top and an 8 cm × 2 cm (3.2″ × 0.8″) loss in the lower left corner; the rear is pristine. The pages are in excellent condition: free from creasing, foxing or any other marking – except for page 939 where the previous owner has left a few small, personal touches in blue ink, and pages 927-933 where there is minor, localised staining. The previous owner has also printed their name and address in pencil in the upper right corner of the fep.
Measures 10.4″ × 7.8″ (26 cm × 19 cm). 4to. 89 pp.
