Story book consisting of thirteen adventure stories set in locations as diverse
as Mexico, Canada, and Tsarist era Russia. Contains one excellent colour frontis
and 16 quarter and half-page black and white illustrations. Unusually, the
illustration to the front cover is only partially in colour, with the sailing
boats, quay, lighthouse, &c. in the background in red/yellow monochrome.
Grubby marks and two creases running along the left-hand side of the front cover. Corners bumped; spine bumped and grubby. No date of publication given, but assumed to be from the early '40s. Birthday dedication in black ink on ffep is dated 15/4/44. Minimal foxing around page edges, but pages clean and free from marks, except for some minor spots on pp. 122, 123, 146 & 147. Hinge only slightly exposed betwixt pp. 96 & 97, but binding remains tight. A nice copy of a very rare book. Measures 9.6″ × 7″ (24 cm × 17.5 cm). Oversize 8vo. 156 pp. Price: £35.00 |
