Title: The Bobbsey Twins at School
Author: Laura Lee Hope
Publisher: World Distributors (Manchester) Limited
Condition: Very Good/Good
Jacket Condition: Very Good/Good
Description: The second book in the series sees the introduction of a new member to the Bobbsey family: a dog named Snap. In spite of its title, very little of the action takes place at the school. The Twins are far more content organising Hallowe'en parties, teaching their new dog tricks, and rambling in the woods!
The only illustrations present are that on the dust jacket; a b&w frontispiece depicting the Twins carving a pumpkin for Hallowe'en; and another illustration at the very end of the book showing a circus parade. The endpapers and pastedowns are illustrated with a b&w pattern of miscellaneous, holiday-related objects (e.g. beach balls, windmills, circus tents, &c.).
Overall condition of the book is very good. The jacket has been laminated and reinforced with paper by the previous owner and hasn't been price-clipped (5´-). Its only caveat is a crease running vertically at the rear. Pages are virtually free from foxing – the worst of it is present on pp. 134-142. Page 138 has a stain on its upper-left corner. There is also some discolouration to the endpapers where they have made contact with the jacket flaps. Otherwise, the book is clean throughout and the binding is tight.
Rare to find a copy from this year.
Measures 19.5 cm × 13 cm (7.8″ × 5.2″). Small 8vo. 183 pp.
