Title: The Bobbsey Twins at Meadow Brook
Author: Laura Lee Hope
Publisher: World Distributors (Manchester) Limited
Condition: Very Good
Jacket Condition: Very Good
Description: The fourth book in the series is a continuation of the Twins' adventures at their Aunt Sarah's farm.
The only illustrations present are that on the dust jacket; a b&w frontispiece depicting a circus parade; and another illustration at the very end of the book in which the Twins and the townsfolk are observing a parachuter who appears to have ejected from a hot air balloon. The endpapers and pastedowns are illustrated with a b&w pattern of miscellaneous, holiday-related objects (e.g. beach balls, windmills, circus tents, &c.).
Overall condition of the book is very good. The jacket has been laminated and reinforced with paper by the previous owner, and bears its original price of 5´-. Its only flaw is a slight crease measuring 1.5 cm (0.6″) near the bottom of the front cover (see image). The top of the page tips have been stained yellow, and some of this dye has run ever so slightly onto the pages themselves. There is also a mark left after a blue ballpoint pen running across the page tips on the side. Other than that, the pages are clean and free from any foxing or other markings. There is, however, the usual discolouration to the endpapers where they have been in contact with the jacket flaps. Tight binding.
Rare to find a copy from this year.
Measures 19.5 cm × 13 cm (7.8″ × 5.2″). Small 8vo. 184 pp.
