Description: "This is a book about the Romans, what kind of people they were, and their way of life. It tells of their often cruel forms of entertainment, their beliefs and superstitions and the gods they worshipped.
It also tells of their great empire, and how widely differing peoples were brought under Roman rule."

Beautiful and evocative full-page colour illustrations on ever other page. Front pastedown and endpaper depict a three-colour map of the Roman Empire. Rear endpaper features a plan of a typical Roman house, whilst the pastedown is illustrated with a two-tone monochrome cross-section of Hadrian's Wall.

Laminated pictorial boards. Apart from a slight bump on the head of the spine, the book is in immaculate condition inside and out – indicating it was either unread or very well cared for by its previous owner.

Measures 17.5 cm × 11.5 cm (7″ × 4.6″). 12mo. 51 pp.
