Description: This rare Piccolo edition features 18 fairy tales – from old favourites like Snow-White and the Seven Dwarfs and Rumplestiltskin [sic] to more obscure ones such as The Spirit in the Bottle, The Great Iron Chest, and Jorinda and Joringel – all "sparkingly retold".
Also contains a short foreword which reveals that the Brothers' interest in the German language, and how it was spoken in different parts of the country, led them to begin collecting the tales. At the end of the book is a series of brief notes about each of the fairy tales – including comparisons of similar stories.

Superb b&w sketches by Fritz Wegner throughout.

Light foxing in upper-left corner of front cover (refer to image) and along spine. Minor creasing to front cover and along spine. First 20 or so – and last few – pages are foxed to varying degrees. Previous owner has accentuated the ellipses on the table of contents using blue ink. Otherwise all pages are unmarked and lightly tanned. Binding is tight.

Measures 19.5 cm × 13 cm (7.8″ × 5.2″). Large 12mo. 175 pp. + 1 page listing two other related books by the publisher.
