This sequel to The Tale of Tom Kitten is set in Potter's own home at Hill Top Farm,
and features her former pet rat, Sammy – to whose memory she dedicated the book
– as the anthropomorphic protagonist Mr. Samuel Whiskers, whom we first meet in
The Tale of Ginger & Pickles.
Illustrated with a mix of wonderful b&w drawings, plus enchanting full-colour illustrations, which provide a rare glimpse into the interior of Hill Top House as it was in Potter's day. Deep crimson matt boards with black embossed text to front and spine. Circular tipped-in illustration on front. Apart from some negligible bumping to the top corners, the boards (including the illustration) are in fabulous condition. Unclipped (3/6 NET) jacket is lightly scuffed along upper extremities, with the remains of a label on the front (refer to image). 'Invisible' closed tear on rear, plus some minor localised scarring and soiling. Pages are printed on ordinary paper, and are lightly tanned – but remain completely free from foxing or any marking. Colour illustrations are printed on glossy plates, and are as new. Measures 14 cm × 10.5 cm (5.8″ × 4.2″). Small 16mo. 76 pp. Price: £25.00 |
