Description:
The people of the 14th and 15th centuries lived in a time dominated by war and destruction.
Skill with the sword is only one aspect of life described in this book; it also tells how people lived and worked, developed trade, industry and agriculture, and how they built roads and ships. Each beautifully illustrated chapter contains a wealth of background information on such topics as the ideals of chivalry, sports and pastimes, Chaucer's poetry, plus many more. Richly illustrated with beautiful drawings and reproductions from contemporary prints, maps, and manuscripts – many in full-colour and full-page. Pastedowns and endpapers are illustrated with an early, computerised map of the British Isles and Europe. The jacket has some very light shelf wear and has been price-clipped (though, unusually, there is a price sticker (£1.50 net in UK only) present on the flap). Other than that it is excellent condition. The book itself is in excellent order throughout. Pages are bright, crisp, and free of any foxing or other marks. Measures 30.5 cm × 22.5 cm (12.2″ × 9″). Folio. 89 pp. Price: £16.95 |
