Description: Set against the glowing backdrop of 14th century history, is the story of Katherine Roet who, at the age of 15, came to the court of Edward III where her sister, Philippa, was the Queen's lady-in-waiting and the betrothed of Geoffrey Chaucer.
The beautiful Katherine attracted the attention of the Duchess Blanche – wife of John of Gaunt – who arranged a marriage for her with the gently born but uncouth Sir Hugh Swynford.
Yet Katherine's fate was unalterably entwined with that of the Duchess's husband, and after the deaths of Blanche and Sir Hugh, Katherine and John come together to find complete and passionate satisfaction.
