Description: Number 2c in the Ladybird Key Words series, presents a simple story starring Loughborough's famous duo, Peter and Jane. The story is written using very short sentences, printed in a school handwriting font. Certain words are left incomplete, to encourage children to fill in the missing letters. For example:
Jane writes.
I want to fish.
Pat wants to come.
We w_ _ _ to go
to the water, P_ _ _ _ .

There are also a number of exercises at the back and at certain points in the book. In true Ladybird fashion, the book is illustrated with beautiful, nostalgic full-colour, full-page illustrations on every other page – there are also a few half-page, double-spread illustrations.

Only the first page has had the blanks filled in (using blue felt-tip); all the rest – including the exercises – have been left untouched. Overall condition of the book is good (considering its age and previous life in a child's room). The boards have generally resisted rubbing, with the bulk of it being consigned to the spine. There are some light marks on the rear board, and a stain on the front (see image). The spine has been bumped, as have the corners. Internally, the pages show signs of handling, but are generally clean and very bright (particularly the illustrations). The front pastedown is creased (possibly related to the stain on the cover).

Measures 17.5 cm × 11.5 cm (7″ × 4.6″). 12mo. 52 pp.
