Description: Scarce cook book featuring facsimiles of handwritten, typewritten, and computer-printed recipes on embassy stationery submitted by ambassadors, consuls, and other high-ranking embassy staff. Includes recipes from the United States, Spain, Turkey, Brazil, Yugoslavia, Barbados, and other diverse countries.
Each chapter is illustrated with a high-quality b&w reproduction of an 18th century ambassador or diplomat. Also contains one b&w plate, and two diagrams depicting the seating arrangement – plus dishes served – at two diplomatic dinner parties from 1922 and 1950 – the former having been attended by Mr. & Mrs. Winston Churchill. Illustrated pastedowns and endpapers.
Laminated pictorial boards. Spine bumped at tail. Corners remain straight. Some rubbing along edge of rear board. Internally, the book is in excellent condition. Signed by author on title page: For Lizzy, with the author's best wishes. Veronica Maclean. "May your dishes prosper!".
