Description: When Aninku and Pepiček discover one morning that their mother is ill, they rush to town for milk to make her better. Their attempt to to earn money by singing is thwarted by a bullying, bellowing, hurdy-gurdy grinder, Brundibar, who tyrannises the town square and chases all other street musicians away.
The book is based on a Czech opera by Hans Krása and Adolf Hoffmeister of the same name – 'Brundibár' is Czech slang for 'bumblebee'.

Sendak's trademark illustrations grace every page – including a cameo appearance by the baker from the Night Kitchen!

Chocolate cloth boards with embossed black title on front and gilded text on spine. Jacket has been price-clipped and is lightly scuffed along the top. Otherwise excellent. The book itself is as new.

Measures 21.5 cm × 27.5 cm (8.6″ × 11″). Landscape 8vo. Unpaginated.
