Description: "For more than half a century the great Danish story-teller has been beloved by children in all parts of the world, and nowhere has he more devoted admirers than in Great Britain and those lands where English is the common tongue. As has been well said, 'Andersen was a Norseman, and the blood of the Norsemen is in our veins.'
"This book has been chiefly designed for younger children, [and] only those stories have been included which are most suitable for the purpose."
Consists of 12 fairy tales, including such classics as the The Snow Queen and The Nightingale as well as slightly lesser known tales like The Candles and The Little Swineherd.

Illustrated with numerous excellent, yet uncredited, full-page b&w drawings.

Some water marks to rear cover and just slightly on the front cover where it meets the spine (refer to image). Remarkably for a mass market paperback of this vintage, the pages are only lightly tanned and completely free from foxing. Pages are crisp, unmarked and very tightly bound.

Measures 18 cm × 10.5 cm (7.2″ × 4.2″). 12mo. 192 pp.
