Description: 10c in the Key Words Reading Scheme is effectively an exercise book in phonics. It introduces, amongst others, new words beginning with 'bl', 'ou', and 'gr'; those ending with 'ew', 'ss'; plus those that make use of the silent 'k'. An extract from p. 6 follows:

We know the words new and few.
Now we learn yew, flew, stew, blew, chew and drew.

  1. Here is a yew tree. It is by a brick wall.
  2. He opened the window, and the bee flew into the garden.
  3. This is a mother in her kitchen. She is making a stew.
  4. There are no leaves on this tree. The wind blew them down.
  5. The boy is eating an apple. He likes something to chew.
  6. The girl drew this picture. It is of her two brothers.

J.H. Wingfield's exquisite, full-page colour illustrations grace every facing page.

Matt pictorial boards in excellent overall condition. Spine ends bumped and slightly damaged. Corners only slightly bumped. Unusual, 'emergency' price revision sticker on rear board with '18' stamped on it. Immaculate internal condition: pages are crisp, clean, bright, and very tightly bound.

A lovely copy of a very rare book.
