Description:
The third installment of Ladybird's travel series focuses on the U.S.
Written in the form of a narrative, rather than the more drab textbook prose, it follows the travels of two children – Alison and John – as they explore the United States with their father. Key facts about geography, industry, &c., are cleverly incorporated into the story. Jack Matthew's beautifully evocative full-page, colour illustrations grace every page and provide a fascinating snapshot of life in '50s America. Pages are crease-free and in very good condition overall. However, a number of pages have slight foxing near the edge of the text, and there is also some slight foxing on the map of the U.S. featured on the front pastedown and fep. The illustrations remain unaffected, however, except for one which has a very small and minor stain. The front board is in very good condition with just a hint of foxing, but the rear is rather grubby. As is the case with most matt board Ladybirds, the head and tail of the spine and the corners have been bumped. Binding is tight. A nice copy of a 45 year old book. Measures 17.5 cm × 11.5 cm (7″ × 4.6″). 12mo. 51 pp. Price: £12.00 |
