Description: "The ancient civilisation which today we call Minoan Crete was one of great splendour and technical achievement comparable in some cases with that of the twentieth century. Scholars still debate its many aspects, and archaeologists continue to search for further clues to widen our knowledge of the Minoans.
Here is the story of Crete as we believe it was in those far-off days, with its gay people [stop laughing at the back!] and rich life."

Beautiful, full-page colour illustrations grace each facing page. Front pastedown and endpaper depict a colour map of Minoan Crete, alongside a monochrome reproduction of the famous bull-leap fresco from Knossos, and an aerial plan of the Palace of Knossos.

Matt pictorial boards would be as new were it not for some grubby marks and light scarring to the rear. Tail of spine slightly bumped; head and corners are straight. Faint school stamp on front pastedown, else all pages are in immaculate condition: crisp, bright, and free from all defect. Super-tight binding suggests the book didn't see much use.

Genuine first edition: Crete is the last (40th) title listed on the rear. Original price of 24p Net. An excellent collectors' copy.
