Description:
A scarce booklet featuring 4 traditional Chinese fairy tales: The Lake of Gems,
The Feast of Lanterns, The Story of the Willow-Pattern Plate, and
The Chinese Beauty and The Tartar Beast.
Each story is brought to life with wonderful oriental b&w sketches and line-drawings. Covers slightly faded around edges and on spine. Although clearly mass-produced on the cheap, the book is actually in excellent internal order: the pages have resisted foxing, are only lightly tanned, and very tightly bound. A number are creased along the top, but this is the result of the printing process and not through mishandling. No year of publication given, but assumed to date from c.1910. Measures 18.5 cm × 12 cm (7.4″ × 4.8″). 12mo. 58. pp + 6 pp. catalogue of other titles by the publisher. (SOLD) |
