Description: Rare collection of stories based on the hit series broadcast on BBC Radio in the 1950s. Follows the form of an annual in that, apart from the stories, there are quizzes and articles of interest for budding detectives.
Contains eight fantastic colour plates (including frontispiece) and many excellent b&w illustrations – the majority of which are full-page. Illustrated pastedowns and endpapers depict PC 49 and some youngsters looking out over the Thames in the direction of Tower Bridge, with a large cargo vessel docked nearby.
Pictorial matt boards with navy blue cloth spine. Spine and corners bumped. Small inscription dated 1954 in ink on front pastedown, plus a large '2d' neatly written in ballpoint pen – no doubt the work of a 1960s car-booter! Pencil marks on contents page and light scrawling on the rear of the frontis (the pressure from the pencil has marked the front) where someone attempted to 'sign' the declaration printed there. Otherwise pages are in very good, unmarked condition. No date of publication given.
Measures 10.2″ × 7.6″ (25.5 cm × 19 cm). 4to. 93 pp.
